Epson and National Geographic Collaborate to Prevent Arctic Melting from hesters's blog

Epson is collaborating with National Geographic to raise awareness actions for the protection of the world's permafrost – the frozen land beneath Earth's polar regions – by launching the 'Turn Down the Heat' campaign.
Many scientists worldwide warn of the threat of melting icebergs in the Arctic. This will have an impact on extreme sea level rise that will occur faster than previously thought.
The campaign comes at a time when scientists predict that the world's ice sheets will completely melt by 2100, this could drastically change the ecology, raise global sea levels and release more than 950 billion tons of methane into the atmosphere.
The program, led by National Geographic Explorer Dr Katey Walter Anthony, oversees Arctic observatories in Alaska and Russia to monitor the long-term impacts of climate change.
“The Arctic has literally melted before our eyes. We estimate that up to 10% of projected global warming this century could come from melting ice sheets, and this will affect the entire earth. What happens at the North Pole doesn't just happen at the North Pole. Our choices in work and life really matter.
When we and businesses can make smart decisions in choosing the technology to use, it will make a positive impact and difference to our environment.” said Dr. Katey Walter Anthony as the National Geographic Explorer.
According to him, saving energy is very important in preventing global warming, but many technologies consume significant volumes every day in businesses or homes every day.
In line with Dr. Katey, Epson's Global President, Yasunori Ogawa said preventing global warming and saving energy, Epson's pioneering series of printers are equipped with
Heat-Free Technology can prevent and reduce environmental impact by using low energy sources and replacing fewer parts.
“Sustainability is at the heart of everything we do at Epson. We are committed to not only reducing our environmental impact but helping our users to do so too.
We hope to make a difference in tackling global environmental issues with our users and business partners through our technology,” said Yasunori Ogawa.
Please note, at the beginning of the year, Epson Southeast Asia launched its sustainability campaign, “Be Cool” to raise awareness among users that productivity and sustainability do not have to be exclusive and separate.
Through this campaign, Epson Southeast Asia is encouraging businesses to “Be Cool” by leveraging how Epson's printing technology can make sustainable choices easier.
To raise awareness of sustainability to customers, businesses and partners, Epson Southeast Asia activated teams in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam
throughout the year for strategic market activities that will bring “Be Cool” and “Turn Down the Heat” closer to the community, and support the realization of the United Nation – Sustainable Development Goals program, namely responsible consumption and production (program no. climate change (program no.13), these two programs have become a priority.
“We want to create value in the environment across Southeast Asia to help achieve our global vision and the regionally defined UN SDGs.
With this parameter guide, we will work more aggressively across all business areas to create partnerships towards greater sustainability using Epson technology.” Said Siew Jin Kiat - Regional Managing Director of Epson Southeast Asia.
About Heat-Free Technology
Epson's Heat-Free Technology does not require heat in the ink dispensing process. On the other hand, pressure applied to Piezo elements can reduce environmental impact while increasing productivity without compromise.
